Our Attraction to Female Masculinity (guest post for smallhandsbigideas.com)

A couple days ago I saw a sexy woman driving an ambulance.  My roommate and I were heading home, and as we came to a busy intersection we heard a loud siren.  Being the upstanding citizens that we are, we stopped at the light and waited for whatever emergency vehicle to pass.

All the other cars had passed through the intersection so we were right in the front row, hoping something interesting was about to be witnessed.  As the siren blared closer and closer, suddenly a Berkeley Fire Department Paramedic ambulance was rounding the corner towards us, smoothly dodging traffic from four directions, with its gorgeous, brown haired, Yasmeen Bleeth-without-makeup-and-highlights-looking, pilot at the helm. Why is a women in a “man’s” job so sexy?

“I’m Busy.” The Easiest Way to Weasel Out of A Commitment? (guest post for smallhandsbigideas.com)

For nearly two years now, I’ve been a single guy. I find myself devoting all my time and energy to Simon and Simon’s needs only. It’s great to be selfish at a young age when the only  things I want to do when I get home from work are personal, meaning they don’t pertain to other people.  You can let your mind run wild with the possibilities, although they’re mostly G-rated and include both active and inactive solutions to the monotony of a 40-hour workweek. You might even say I’m a pretty “busy” guy. How busy do you have to be to not want to go out with someone…?

Women Have All the Power (guest post for smallhandsbigideas.com)

Fact: Attractive women are capable, in a far greater capacity than men, of going out at night and getting most any guy they so desire.

Imagine it’s a few months from now.  For some reason or another-maybe because of a failed relationship, maybe no luck dating, or maybe just our love of spending money on useless things-you are at a crowded seminar given by a relationship counselor by the name of Cole Horn.  The beginning has been moderately interesting. He has touched on some common misconceptions women have about men, some general dating advice, and then he asks everyone to fill out a questionnaire attached to the registration packet.

The questionnaire has a space for circling your gender, and below, one question: If you were out at a bar and saw someone you found attractive, would you sleep with them? Think about the answer in your head and continue…

A Girl Willing To Stick It (guest post for smallhandsbigideas.com)

In the time that we were away we were not totally stagnant.  We did a series of guest posts for our friend at smallhandsbigideas.com.  Here is the first of that series.

Although I most certainly knew some form of this lesson before today, I re-learned an important one: the bus is not a good place to find a date. This was evidenced by the high-pitched female voice that came from behind me and screamed of insecurity.

“Why the hell didn’t you just say ‘hold on’ before you put me on hold and left me high and dry?” She nearly shrieked into the phone, startling a few elderly people at her side.

Silence.  Holy smokes, I thought. It’s that kind of situation that is not only destined for abject misery, but that happens to even the most experienced of people.

Missing Someone

I go out on a party and look for a little fun, but I find a darkened corner, cause I still miss someone.” – Johnny Cash

I woke up this morning and rolled out of bed only to find that once again I was missing someone. It wasn’t a particular face or personality or even a soul that I was missing. It’s more like a feeling, a sense of security, an every day pick me up, that one person that can lead you to believe that no matter what happens this day will be a great one. As I stood stark naked in front of my dresser, trying to decide which pair of underwear to dawn, I remembered that she liked it when I wore boxer briefs. What’s her name did too. And of course, so did she.

See if I ever take off my boxers….
